I began silversmithing in the early '90s. In order to stay fresh and evolved, I learned to make glass beads after seeing a demo and watching a video tape. Initially, I wanted something to complement my metalwork, but things got out of hand somehow. With the help and encouragement of some wonderful artists in the lampworking community, I have continued to develop as a glass artist.
Over the past few years, I have been fortunate enough to attend classes with the likes of Sage and Tom Holland, Pam Dugger, Leah Fairbanks, Doug Remschneider (borosilicate), Kristen Frantzen Orr, Pati Walton, and John Olson. These artists' work will take your breath away!!
I live and work in Kansas with my husband and our "too many" dogs. As for my "day job", I am a software support specialist for Unified School District of Olathe, Kansas. I still find that the rigors of a highly technical career are well-balanced by the creative aspects of lampworking and silversmithing. I love what I do! That, coupled with the insatiable need to create, is the driving force behind my art. Sharing it with others is just a bonus!!
I love to do LOTS of different things, even though I primarily make jewelry. I go through stages, or maybe it's phases, where I feel like crocheting...or maybe spinning a bit of yarn, or needlefelting a Santa Claus. Sometimes I feel like painting or dabbling in pen and ink or watercolor. If the mood strikes me, I will make floral wreaths or arrangements or possibly do a bit of knitting or rug hooking! Everything is made by me, in my home, which is in the suburban Kansas City area.
The one thing you will always find here is handmade art. You also might find some great deals on jewelry supplies or on things that I just don't have room for in my closet. It will always be good stuff, I promise.
All items listed are guaranteed and I hope you find them to your liking! I am always happy to correspond and I welcome comments or suggestions regarding my work. I hope to hear from you!
